Policy and Procedures

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

The policies and procedures contained in this handbook is an agreement between Excel Childcare Center and you to care for your child(ren). By signing this contract, you have formed an agreement with Excel Childcare Center to care, nurture, and support the growth and development of your child while you are away at work, school, or any other engagement. We are partners and the more information you give about your child(ren) the more successful your care provider will be in meeting your child’s needs. Continuous sharing of information is a vital obligation in a caregiver/parent collaboration.

POTTY TRAINING

Parent-educator collaboration is important in ensuring successful potty training. Parents are welcome to share best practise of what works with their child(ren), and where their child is at regards potty training. However, if a child shows no interest in potty training, I may choose to discontinue and try again at a later date. Kindly note Excel Childcare Center do not offer candy to the child for going potty. We use stickers and stamp.

Child Guidance Policy Statement

Children’s growth and development is influenced by a matrix of factors which includes a stress-free environment where they can live, play and explore and their trusted caregiver’s support. Each child is unique and different in their activity level, sensitivity, distractibility, and physicality.

Purpose of this Policy

This policy is the guideline Excel Childcare Center will follow to support children in developing self control, confidence, discipline, respect, and sensitivity to others.

Guidance Strategies

⦁ Explaining to the child(ren) what behaviour will be acceptable and explaining the reason for the limits, using appropriate language and early childhood education techniques for guidance in a positive way.
⦁ Focusing on the child’s behaviour rather than on the child.
⦁ Allow the children ample time to respond to the expectation.
⦁ Reinforcing appropriate, positive behaviours.
⦁ Be willing to listen and respond in a fair and supportive manner.
⦁ Observing children to anticipate potential difficulties.

Care Of a Sick Child and Notification of Parent

⦁ In the event of your child illness in my care, I will make the child comfortable in a quiet place where he/she can rest and will be closely supervised.
⦁ Parents will be notified immediately and agree to begin making alternate work arrangements or arrangements for alternate care. If your child is seriously ill, you or an alternate must come for the child immediately.  If I cannot reach a parent, I will call an emergency contact listed on the registration form or the child’s doctor may be contacted depending on the seriousness of the illness.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Excel Childcare Center is a supportive family atmosphere and an extraction of the community borne to raise successor leaders. I believe all stakeholders in this industry should be treated with respect and dignity. Hence, I implore all parents to avoid the use of harsh or degrading measure/tone/language directed at me as such will not be tolerated. All concerns can be discussed directly with me or in writing in a cordial and mutually respective manner. If I am unable to meet your needs, or my standards do not meet your requirements, I respect your right to choose alternative facilities.
